The UW Finance Transformation Program (UWFT) is a $200M initiative to replace the University’s financial systems with an integrated system to manage the full suite of financial transactions and reporting needs in the UW system – to include academic, administrative, and healthcare. UWFT will fundamentally change the processes and tools that the University employs to track, spend, collect, manage, and report University finances in excess of $7B in annual revenues, resulting in more timely and actionable information for leadership. Among the UW’s highest administrative priorities, this multi-year initiative is one of the largest finance system projects in Washington State and the outcome of the program will be highly visible at all levels of the University and the state.
UWFT is looking for a Systems Analyst to support the technical deliverables across the UWFT workstreams. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
The Systems Analyst will be a key role in ensuring consistent standards and approaches are applied as they produce content related to technical requirements, specifications as well as data and system architecture diagrams. This position will be a liaison between the business and technical transformation workstreams assisting in the translation between business rules or requirements with technical solutions. The Systems Analysts will also produce materials and consult with units across the academic and clinical enterprise as they perform technical readiness activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analysis
Incorporate lean or agile principles and approaches into the development life-cycle and serve as evangelist, coach and mentor with business partners and team members to support overall transformation, UWFT guiding principles and ERP process standardization.
Facilitate end-user working groups to develop shared understanding of needs, develop consensus related to priorities and requirements, and develop inclusive solutions that thoughtfully balance trade-offs and benefits among process partners.
Using proven approaches and problem solving techniques, identify and document business needs, assess alternatives and options, and develop business cases and proposals that support decision making among a diverse set of process partners.
Document technical requirements, analytic/BI requirements, data transformation requirements, and specifications to support software development for data transformation/conversion, a finance foundation data model converter, data integrations and a enterprise data warehouse.
Support development of technical training and learning materials to assist units in system remediation activities associated with replacement of the core financial systems.
Understand and document complex business processes, roles, actors and interactions, business rules, and workflow needs related to aligning the business process and system solutions.
Analyze complex information systems, data base models and/or interface needs.
Identify and evaluate existing and emerging technologies and determine their applicability to UWFT needs.
Perform analytical, design, development and team leadership tasks associated with the implementation of information system solutions.
Consultation
Provide expert consultation to University administrative and technical staff regarding application development, configuration and tools.
Deliver training for academic and clinical enterprise units on how to use tools for learning about the new finance data model and provide guidance on using the new data integration tools and reporting based on the unit's requirements.
Collect feedback and recommend improvements on the efficiency, usability and overall effectiveness of approaches and tools for assisting units in their technical readiness activities.
Provide options and associated pros/cons to assist units in decision-making to replace or remediate unit owned systems that utilize finance data.
Work with all levels of management to critically evaluate and communicate business issues/risks with conviction to campus clients and team members.
Quality Assurance
Write, revise, and verify quality standards and test procedures for program design and product evaluation to attain quality of software.
Develop use cases and play a key role in the validation and quality assurance process across all technical deliverables.
Review new or modified configuration, including documentation, diagram, and flow chart, to determine if configuration will perform according to user request and conform to guidelines.
Work within team to determine and implement agreed upon testing principles and practices. Coordinate with other UWFT and external resources to design and implement quality assurance plans.
Project Management & Leadership
Manage reporting, integration and/or conversion development projects. Work with formal and informal project plans, and work independently or in a group to meet deadlines.
Identify appropriate level of oversight and resource requirements, facilitate team member activities and communicate project progress with project manager, consultants, team, customers and users.
Use solid judgment to determine appropriate escalation and resolution of issues within project structure.
Work with all levels of management to critically evaluate and communicate business issues/risks with conviction to campus clients and team members.
Lead, organize and influence positively, effectively and maneuver through unstructured problems and create the necessary structure to drive for results.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
