One Full-time (100% FTE) Position for Teaching Associate Advanced Practice Provider (APP-- ARNP or PA-C)
Faculty Appointment: Teaching Associate/ARNP or PA without tenure position in the Division of Cardiology is a full-time, one-year, 12-month appointment, renewable annually.
Position Overview
Cardiovascular genetics is a rapidly growing subspecialty within the UW Medicine Heart Institute that focuses on inherited and family based forms of heart disease. The UW Medicine Cardiovascular Genetics Clinic provides comprehensive evaluations and management and serves as a referral center for patients throughout the Pacific Northwest. Advanced Practice Providers (APPs - ARNPs and PAs) are integral and essential to the comprehensive care of this complex patient population.
Cardiology APPs throughout UW Medicine support a model of care delivery that prioritizes rapid access and patient care needs.
Reports to: Cardiology Chief, Physician Section Head of Cardiac Genetics, and Senior Lead APP
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with cardiologists who specialize in the genetic basis of multiple cardiac conditions, including hypertrophic and other genetic cardiomyopathies, cardiac complications of neuromuscular conditions, and aortic diseases such as Marfan syndrome.
• Provide high quality and safe, patient- and family-centered care in a premier institution
• Provide a full spectrum of independent as well as collaborative care to adult Cardiology patients in the outpatient clinical setting at both UWMC-Montlake and UWMC-Northwest.
• Integrate clinical findings, obtained from physical examination, imaging, and functional assessment, with genetic information to improve diagnosis, prognostication, and risk stratification, including cascade family screening.
• Participate in quality improvement projects and process improvement activities.
• Participate in and support the Division’s education, research and quality initiatives.
o Provide education and mentorship to fellow team members, staff, residents, fellows, nurses and students.
o Attend weekly Cardiology Grand Rounds and quarterly faculty meetings.
• Be well versed in UWMC CPOE/EPIC.
• Follow UWMC Professional Behavior Policy and Procedures.
• Perform other related duties as required (may include providing flexible assistance to other UW Cardiology teams who require help to provide high quality patient care as needed).
Required Qualifications:
• Graduate Degree from and accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program
• Current and valid state Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nursing Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant licensure for PA-C
• Nationally certified ARNP/PA with DEA
• Highly reliable, flexible provider with proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment
• Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of cardiology patients
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Basic computer knowledge and command of basic personal computer skills
• Excellent time management skills
Ideal Qualifications
• Training and experience in cardiology preferred
• Basic understanding of genetics is desirable but not required.
