The UW Graduate School has an outstanding opportunity open for a Temporary Test Engineer. This is a 6-month, benefits eligible role.
This position analyzes and develops test plans and tools to maintain quality assurance of enterprise level computer programs managed by the Computing and Information Resources (CAIR) Division of the Graduate School. Many of these programs are used by students, faculty and staff in support of graduate education, both inside and outside the University of Washington (UW) and at other institutions. In many cases, the test engineer has full project level authority over quality assurance leading the test plan for the rest of the team.
The testing position requires understanding of complex business rule logic from users ranging from deans to administrative staff and will work on testing applications to ensure that data is kept secure and private as mandated by UW Internal Audit. The test engineer is responsible for assuring the quality of information systems that provide innovative and efficient solutions to user requirements through the creation, management, and running test plans along with creating reusable test tools and scripts. The test engineer leads testing without excessive supervision.
This position directly impacts the Graduate School’s ability to use technology to better serve its student, faculty and staff constituents through the development and maintenance of information systems supporting graduate education administration at all three UW campuses. The Graduate School CAIR Division partners with University of Washington Information Technology (UW-IT) on mission critical enterprise systems, and this position provides key leadership within CAIR. Systems include MyGradProgram with over 2,500 central and departmental users and thousands of student users, the online graduate application process used by over 30,000 applicants per year, UW-IT departments across the UW campus that access the graduate web services, and to hundreds of users in over 50 major universities using the National Name Exchange.
