UW Facilities manages the University’s buildings, infrastructure and land, with more than 1,100 employees in a variety of fields. The Asset Management group includes Capital & Space Management, Real Estate, Sustainability and other teams responsible for planning and workload management. The Operations group includes Project Delivery, Maintenance & Construction, Campus Utilities & Operations, Building Services, Transportation Services and Safety. Supporting these groups, as well as the separate Emergency Management team, are the Business Intelligence & Information Technology group and the Finance & Administration group.
Partner Resources is comprised of four strategic business units focused on providing world class expertise and service to the largest organization on upper campus. Human Resources assists UW Facilities departments in managing leave administration, employee performance, rewards and recognition, labor relations, UW and UW Facilities policies and procedures. Payroll manages the payroll administration for 1100 employees and provides strategic data to UW Facilities leaders to manage their payroll related costs. Communications provides information support and produces blog and web content for the entire UW Facilities organization. The UW Facilities Training Center is housed in our state-of-the-art facility and the training staff develops employees to serve and preserve the university community.
We have an outstanding opportunity for a Training Specialist.
This position will work under the general direction of the UWF Training Manager and will work closely with a variety of employees at all levels of the organization, individually and in groups. This position will require diplomacy, tact and emotional maturity as well as sufficient business and political acumen to navigate in the changing world of the UWF Training as it evolves to meet the organization’s needs. The job will require a professional, energetic, creative, problem solver who is not afraid to take risks and can remain calm in difficult situations. The position requires a high level of customer service as well as the ability to work collaboratively with others to develop training and developmental opportunities through the Training Center.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead and participate in cross-functional work teams to manage training logistics.
• Develop, promote, administer, and deliver training sessions on a range of topics.
• Work independently to write, edit and develop informational materials for the Training Center.
• Lead and participate with collaborative work teams to develop and refine training materials for various training programs.
• Manage the schedule of the Training Center facilities including, classrooms, conference room and labs.
• Provide excellent customer service and assistance to Training Center guests.
• Create and prepare reports, program visual aids, charts and presentations for use at the Training Center.
• Educate team members on Training Center policies and procedures.
• Promote the mission of the Training Center to various user groups.
• Maintain records of classrooms, materials and resources.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements include:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business experience
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in administration, communication, training, program coordination or management positions.
• Experience teaching and facilitating small to medium sized groups or classes.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Proven experience building and maintaining records.
• Strong communication and conflict management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people at all levels of an organization and in a variety of roles.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with discretion and tact, with both individuals and teams.
• Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work both independently, with minimum supervision, and as part of a team.
• Self-starter that can work in an unstructured and ambiguous work environment.
• Demonstrated ability using critical thinking skills to problem solve in the moment.
• Excellent written and verbal skills and experience including the ability to write, edit and proof business documents and training materials.
• Comfortable speaking to a wide variety of audiences.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
