Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has an outstanding job opportunity for Temporary Part Time Utility Worker 1.
Typically Monday-Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm (evenings and weekends as required for sporting and special events).
Under the direction of others, provide grounds maintenance for Intercollegiate Athletic fields; mow, edge, trim, and aerate all playing surfaces throughout the athletic complex; apply fertilizer and pesticides; provide daily field maintenance and set up for baseball, track, softball, soccer, track, along with all other facilities and surrounding areas. Sweep, clean, tine, and maintain turf fields.
Pressure wash Husky Stadium and other facilities as assigned. Work independently to properly clean seating and concourse areas to meet gameday standards.
Assist in day of game football operations as well as break down and cleaning of stadium.
Provide game day coverage, including set-up, maintenance, and clean up from athletic and special events in the baseball, softball, soccer, arena, and surrounding facilities.
Assist with painting game fields, as needed.
Assist with waste management through properly sorting trash, recycle, and compost during and after an event.
Under general supervision, control vegetation growth in all areas around the athletic complex buildings and grounds to include but not limited to Husky Stadium, Alaska Airlines Arena, Husky Ballpark, Conibear Shellhouse, Husky Softball Stadium, Outdoor Track Facility, and the Dempsey Indoor Facility. Perform general landscaping in assigned areas of the athletic grounds.
Assist with snow removal around all athletic facilities.
Use a variety of manual tools and equipment such as rakes, hand edger’s, loppers, tampers, pruning shears, shovels, hoes, fertilizer spreaders and pesticide sprayers. Operate power and motorized equipment such as pressure washers, blowers, turf vacuums and sweepers, tractors, front end loaders, lawn mowers, bunker rakes, forklifts, lawn edger’s, chain saws, small trucks, backpack blowers, rototillers, aerators, sod cutters, and weed trimmers.
Overtime on evenings and weekends as required.
Perform related duties as required.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pacific-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Availability and flexibility to work seven days a week during playing seasons.
Ability to communicate with coaches specifically with questions about the fields or explanation of fieldwork.
Have a valid driver’s license.
