UW-IT is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing critical technology support to all three campuses, UW medical centers and global research operations. UW-IT collaborates with University partners to advance teaching, learning, innovation and discovery at the UW. The Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) within UW-IT promotes a culture of information security and privacy. Services are designed to help UW units understand risks by analyzing and forecasting threats to information security, researching applicable information security and privacy laws, providing education on safeguarding institutional information, consulting on incident management, and managing policies and strategic solutions for UW’s institutional information.
UW-IT has an outstanding full time opportunity for a Web Security Developer.
The Web Security Developer will play several critical roles in the Office of the CISO’s mission of creating a culture of security.
The incumbent will work with other members of the Office of the CISO to create and support a community of UW developers and other individuals who understand and promote a culture of security. The position will be responsible for creating, supporting, and advocating for risk-based development practices that recognize the diversity and breadth of the University of Washington.
This position will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise software tools to support transparency, facilitate collaboration, and inform decision making around data, security, and risk. This position will design/create/maintain front-end web applications and programmatic infrastructure for data entry, risk assessment and visualization tools as well as the integration of disparate data sources they use.
The Web Security Developer will also take part in regular outreach activities for the purpose of increasing institutional knowledge and awareness of web application security, secure coding practices, and general information security.
The person in this position must have high standards and be very self-motivated. Flexibility, ingenuity, dedication, enthusiasm, and enjoyment of working on a team are key attributes of this individual. This individual must be able to effectively influence the UW community.
REQUIREMENTS:
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
