The State of Washington DCYF - Department of Children, Youth and Families is currently recruiting for several dynamic, motivated and culturally competent Social Service Specialist positions within field offices located throughout King County.

These Social Service Specialist positions, carry a caseload providing advanced level permanency planning and protection of children through intensive social work services to children and families. These services develop and implement individual service plans designed to minimize risk to the health and safety of children and strengthen or reunite families. Vacancies also include positions within the Indian Child Welfare program. Positions at this level work with little supervision and exercise independent judgment. This includes the responsibility to devise and manage his or her personal workload.
Salary: $4040 - $5574 per month - Full time – Permanent
Office Locations: Bellevue, Kent & Seattle
Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The goal class for this position is a Social Service Specialist 3. We are willing to consider candidates at the Social Service Specialist 2 level, with a training plan to advance to a Social Service Specialist 3. Experience is the only difference between qualifications for both levels, and will be evaluated by the hiring manager.
Required Qualifications for the Social Service Specialist 3 level:
Professionals with one year of experience as a Social Service Specialist 2
OR
Bachelor's degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, or an allied field, and three years of paid social service experience performing functions equivalent to a Social Service Specialist 2.
OR
Master's degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, or an allied field and two years of paid social service experience.
Note: A practicum will be substituted for the one year of paid social service experience.
Employees must successfully complete the formal training course sponsored by their division within one year of their appointment.
