TRIO SSS Academic Coordinator/Retention Specialist
Duties:
Under the management and supervision of the Director of TRIO Student Support Services (TRIO SSS), the Academic Coordinator/Retention Specialist is responsible for implementing systems and methods for student programs and services; advising and counseling of students in an effort to increase retention, academic achievement and graduation rates; develops individual academic plans and maintains case notes and records of meetings; coordinate tutoring and instruct class; assist Director in preparing comprehensive reports pertaining to TRIO SSS program goals, achievements, and evaluations; update and maintain related database; assist with outreach and retention activities; prepare University policy, procedures and updates; develop and participate in student workshops; functions as a liaison with University faculty, supervisors, and internal and external constituents; monitoring and evaluating student services and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement; serve on committees and professional development opportunities as assigned; support Student Affairs and the University strategic plan; utilize working knowledge of policies, principles and procedures of federal regulations outlined in the TRIO SSS grant under the U.S. Department of Education; supervise tutoring staff.
Minimum Requirements:
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Development, Counseling Psychology or relevant social science discipline. Experience counseling/advising students in a higher education environment. Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills. Experience creating and conducting presentations. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a diverse environment. Attention to details, organized, and ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.
Salary:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
