Mathematics Faculty, Tenure Track Description
Whatcom Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Mathematics instructor beginning Fall Quarter 2021. The College is seeking a dynamic individual interested in developing and engaging students through the use and implementation of innovative and inclusive curriculum and teaching methods, including the application of technology, both inside and outside the classroom. The College seeks faculty who have the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, colleagues, staff, and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and global understanding. College faculty teach an equivalent of 15 credits per quarter and contribute to the College through committee service and program leadership and development.
The Mathematics Department prepares students for transfer degrees and the workforce. The successful applicant will be expected to:
- teach all levels and types of mathematics courses offered at Whatcom, including developmental courses, general education courses, and courses beyond introductory calculus;
- teach in multiple modalities, including asynchronous online courses and synchronous in-person courses;
- collaborate with college faculty and administrators in contributing to the future vision and scope of mathematics programs at the college;
- adapt courses to meet changing job skills and qualification requirements;
- successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
Cyber MKTG & Communications MGR Description
The Cybersecurity Center Marketing and Communications Manager supports the marketing needs of the National Cybersecurity Training & Education Center (NCyTE) and the CAE National Resource Center (CNRC) hosted at Whatcom Community College (WCC). The NCyTE Center advances cybersecurity education in the U.S. by investing in technological innovation, resources, professional development and tools to support faculty, community colleges and the workforce pipeline of tomorrow. The CNRC supports mentorship of colleges and universities nationwide to improve their cybersecurity education programs. The position will manage marketing and communication efforts in collaboration with the NCyTE and CNRC teams and within the Centers’ goals and objectives.
The successful candidate will possess: strong writing, organizational, communication, and technical skills; a desire to learn and innovate; and, the ability to take initiative. The candidate will work closely with ten team members and will share a variety of roles to complete projects which include collaborating, leading, writing, implementing and coordinating.
The centers support numerous grant projects and initiatives. The marketing & communication manager will be expected to understand the goals, objectives, and deliverables of each grant. The candidate will represent and support the centers’ goals to external agencies.
Work is currently conducted virtually due to COVID but the candidate will be expected to work full-time at the college when it is determined safe to return.
