Director for TRIO & Student Support Description
Whatcom Community College welcomes applications for a Director for TRIO and Student Support.
TRIO and Support Services seeks to increase the retention, graduation, and transfer rates of low-income or first generation students at WCC through targeted outreach, intensive professional coaching, peer mentoring, mandatory guided pathways advising, academic tutoring, assistance in course selection, career advising, information and assistance in applying for federal student aid and scholarships, financial and economic literacy education, information and planning assistance with the college transfer process, and exposure to cultural events and academic experiences.
50% Time, Research Analyst Description
Whatcom Community College invites applications for a 50% time Research Analyst for the Title III Grant. The half-time research analyst is funded through a U.S. Department of Education Title III grant and reports to the director for assessment and institutional research (AIR). The objectives of this Title III grant are to advance the College in developing training related to guided pathways implementation, establishing a teaching and learning center, and revitalizing the student entry experience through a welcome center. The research analyst will undertake qualitative and some quantitative research in conjunction with the AIR office to support the implementation of, track the progress toward, and evaluate the effectiveness of activities related to grant objectives. This individual will design, implement, analyze, and communicate results of qualitative and quantitative research, assessment, and evaluation studies related to course completion, retention, and graduation; academic performance; student, faculty, and staff engagement; and other grant and college objectives. The research analyst is expected to collaborate and engage with faculty, administrators, and staff from across the College and to exercise initiative, independence, and discretion in the development and timely execution of projects. The analyst plays a particular role in bringing student perspectives and voice to bear on the implementation of the grant.
Transitional Learning Advisor Description
Whatcom Community College’s Transitional Learning program is seeking a dynamic, student centered and technology savvy individual to join our team. The office of Transitional Learning includes a wide range of programs and services: Adult Basic Education, English Language Learners, I-BEST (Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training), HS+ (High School Plus (formerly HS21+)), WorkFirst and ATB (Ability to Benefit). This position will serve as the primary HS+ advisor and support students in an online environment. The role of the TL Advisor is to provide comprehensive, culturally responsive student support services that encourage students to reach their educational and career goals.
Grounds & Nursery Specialist 2 Description
Whatcom Community College invites applications for a Grounds and Nursery Services Specialist 2 (Class Code 591J) in the College's Facilities department. This recruitment is open to ALL qualified applicants. This position will support the duties of the Grounds Supervisor and will report to the Grounds Supervisor. Responsibilities include performing skilled gardening work in the maintenance of grounds, landscapes, nurseries, and/or greenhouses. Position instructs the work of others, including students, staff, or part-time employees regularly assigned to gardening.
