Horticulturist
Horticulturist – Farm Manager, WSU TFREC, Wenatchee, WA (Administrative Professional, FT, Permanent). Duties include, but not limited to, management of the research orchards associated with the TFREC; coordinate, train and supervise activities of the TFREC farm crew; oversee and manage budgets allocated to research orchard operations; interact with the tree fruit industry. Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture. Two years of experience beyond degree working in the management of tree fruit. Experience can

Required Qualifications:
- Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in related field and three (3) years of experience in managing an agricultural/industrial facility which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Positions require a valid driver’s license. May be required to obtain and maintain position specific licenses/registrations.
- College degree related to horticulture.
- Two years of experience working in the management of tree fruit.
- Cross-Cultural communication skills.
- Must have, or able to obtain, a valid driver’s license by time of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five or more years experience managing tree fruit orchards.
- M.S. in horticulture.
- Knowledge and experience with modern pome and cherry fruit orchard management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work with researchers to implement varied protocols for orchard management, such as nutrition, irrigation scheduling, crop load management, pruning and training, crop protection, and weed control.
- Basic understanding of farm equipment use and maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise personnel and to accomplish desired goals associated
- with orchard management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets associated with orchard, or other perennial
- crop, management.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral, written, and electronic
- forms.
- Good public relations and communication skills necessary for hosting and guiding
- field days and orchard tours.
- Have a positive, solution-oriented attitude with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish.
