The Graduate School's Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) program has an outstanding opportunity open for a Temporary Program Outreach Specialist.
The purpose of the Program Outreach Specialist position is to monitor and manage the reputation and growth of the Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) program and its students through a variety of communication and promotional duties. These duties include website maintenance, social media presence, and design of promotional and informational materials. The position is responsible for the public and online face of the program as well as the promotion of its participants and strengthening the program's visibility in the local and scientific community. The position tracks and maintains relationships with alumni and program friends. The position serves as a broad resource for students and faculty regarding program logistics, statistics, and outcomes as well as topics of interest in the local and global scientific communities.
-Oversight of 25th Anniversary celebrations.
-Event coordination, including the logistical planning, organization and promotion of the events.
-Maintain public website and social media accounts.
-Manage day-to-day social media postings and activity.
-Serve as liaison to web development team.
-Manage day-to-day event updating and site maintenance on WordPress platform.
- Create, update and proof internal tools such as surveys and documents.
-Serve on the MCB Diversity committee.
-Represent the program at recruitment events and conferences.
-Provide logistics for travel and lodging of prospective students.
-Compile grant information and statistics when needed.
-Track grant alumni career trajectories.
Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication, Science, or related field
-2-3 years of related experience
-Demonstrated Project management and/or special event planning experience
-Working knowledge of social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, their strengths, weaknesses and uses
-Basic knowledge of WordPress
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G Suite
-Working knowledge of SharePoint
-Basic knowledge of Adobe products: Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to work independently with limited supervision as well as on a team
Desired
-Knowledge of analytical tools such as Google analytics, Facebook business manager, Twitter analytics, etc.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL.
